A Vietnam Airlines flight, from Can Tho to Hanoi, was delayed nearly four hours on Sunday after the plane was unable to take off due to an engine failure.
This was the second time such problem has been reported by the national carrier in less than a month.
The Airbus A321 was scheduled to depart from Can Tho International Airport at 4:45 p.m. carrying 186 passengers on the flight VN1202, Tuoi Tr (Youth) newspaper quoted the airport's director, Pham Thanh Tam, as saying.
The plane was unable to take off due to a failure in one of its engines, he said.
After mobilizing another plane from Ho Chi Minh City, the flight took off at 8:13 p.m.
On May 6, flights were disrupted at Melbourne Airport after an engine failure on a Vietnam Airlines plane left debris on the runway, AFP reported.
Small flames were seen shooting out of its engine as it prepared to take off for Ho Chi Minh City; the plane safely came to a halt and no one was hurt.
The plane was towed away and debris removed before other flights quickly resumed.
A passenger told ABC radio that the plane sat on the runway for 30 minutes after the incident.
He said the nose had begun to lift off the runway when the engine failed, forcing the pilot to abandon the flight.
