Snow falls in Sapa

Sapa Town has received its first snowfalls of the winter, attracting tourists to revel in the natural wonder after a blanketing of 10cm that began last night (January 9).

Snow was reported at 1,900m, drawing in visitors from Hanoi and surrounding provinces, but farmers fear big losses in agricultural production.

Subsequent heavy rain, however, has raised the risk of landslips on a section of National Highway 4D, blocking traffic for more than an hour.

Snow on the national highway has also challenged drivers. Motorbikes have been banned from crossing O Quy Ho Pass.
