As many as 33 tourism teachers, directors and representatives of Vietnam Tourism Association completed a training course on responsible tourism in Hanoi on April 18-19.
Participants are selected carefully and most of them have taken part in the Vietnam Tourism Occupancy Standard (VTOS).
They received the certificate after the course and became trainers of responsible tourism courses in Vietnam.
They are scheduled to hold 12 seminars on responsible tourism for 3,000 beneficiaries from state agencies, private businesses and local communities, in the coming months.
Responsible tourism contributes to enhancing the competitiveness, bringing benefits to local people, protecting national resources, and promoting Vietnam's position in the regional and global tourism market as an attractive destination.
The course is within the framework of the EU-funded Environmentally and Socially Responsible Tourism Capacity Development Programme.
The programme, implemented over 2011-2015 by the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, has a total cost of EUR12.1 million, with EUR11 million sourced from the EU.
