Hanoians turn out for early morning black bean soup to beat the heat

He sells next door to two women who hawk the capitols’ cheapest sticky rice--VND5,000 a serving--at No.44, which explains the crowd behind him.

 

 

Linh sells sugar-free back beans soup on Hang Hom Street in Hanoi downtown and only in the summer, for two hours starting at 6am.

He charges VND4,000 (less than US20 cents) a bottle and sells 200 bottles, more or less, each morning.
