The Renaissance Riverside Hotel Saigon will hold a cocktail event on June 26 that also offers guests a jewelry and sculpture exhibition by two celebrated artists.
Aiming to encourage guests to discover a better business or leisure trip, the hotel organizes the exclusive cocktail event bringing together artists Sam Tho Duong and Truc-Anh at the hotel’s Atrium Lounge, and featuring their works.
This event will take place simultaneously with 155 Renaissance Hotels around the world to celebrate the third annual “Day of Discovery.”
At the event, Truc-Anh will present new sculptures from a series called ‘Relative’ made from metal and paper with an imaginative video projection.
He said, “I want to use the vertiginous architecture of the Atrium Lounge to project video up to the highest floor. This giant perspective invites guests to interpret the building as the interior of a mind, like a tunnel of dreams with visuals, colored sensations.”
Meanwhile, FROZEN is the title of Sam Tho Duong’s works chosen for this exhibition, in terms of its sensuous surface texture and is even more subtle than all his previous works.
The artist is currently drawn to natural phenomena. “My necklaces remind me of nature. If the temperature is well below zero degrees Celsius, the bark and skin of branches, twigs and fruits are covered with beautiful ice crystals. I try to translate this inspiration into my jewelry,” he said.
Throughout his career, artist Truc-Anh has worked in painting, photography, video, drawing, sculpture and performance.
Established in 2003, his Galerie Quynh is the leading contemporary art gallery in Vietnam. The gallery also exhibits works of distinguished artists from around the world.
Artist Sam Tho Duong has worked in the jewelry industry for years. His work has been shown in prestigious galleries around the world. Duong has won many awards, the most recent being the Friedrich-Becker Prize this year.
Located on Dong Khoi Street in Ho Chi Minh City, Gallery Vivekkevin showcases Duong’s contemporary jewelry. The gallery also represents works of established and emerging artists worldwide.
