Crowds start gathering at 6am, every day, in front of No.44 Hang Hom in Hanoi’s Old Quarter for the sticky rice sold by two two ladies for less than one US dollar for four servings.
The vendors, Hien and Hai, from the capital’s famous sticky rice village Phu Thuong, have been in the business for many years now.
They sell a wide variety of sweets dusted with green beans and peanuts, all at VND5,000 a serving and wrapped in a piece of banana leaf.
They sell around 200 kilograms of sticky rice a day and usually run out by 8am.
