As a number of restaurants and hotels have refused to serve Chinese tourists, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) has asked tourist service providers not to engage in acts of discrimination against Chinese visitors.

VNAT head Nguyen Van Tuan says that the reactions of some tourist service providers and some Vietnamese travellers who cancelled their tours to China are normal because tourism is a sensitive sector. However, “the VNAT will continue to monitor the situation to prevent negative impacts that can affect the relationships between the two countries," Tuan says.
The VNAT has asked local departments of tourism to instruct tour operators, hotels and restaurants to take absolutely no actions against Chinese tourists.
"The security and safety of visitors at this time must be better guaranteed to not allow the agitators to take advantage of this situation," Tuan says. Tuan has asked local agencies to set up working groups to monitor the situation.
The head of VNAT says that tension in the East Sea has had significant impacts on tourism. The VNAT is making plans against risks and adverse impacts on tourism.
After China deployed its oil rig in Vietnam’s waters, many Vietnamese travelers canceled tours to China. A number of restaurants and hotels have refused to serve Chinese visitors.
